About TJV Design

The Company

The company was established by Tibor J. Vanger in 1999. Tibor finished his architectural studies in Hungary, and migrated to Australia in 1988 with his family. He started working on the Gold Coast for Media5 Architects (currently DBI) and was involved with projects like the Royal Pines Resort (Gold Coast), Marriott Hotel (Gold Coast), Green Island Resort (North Qld) and Okinawa Hotel Resort (Japan). After five years he took on a position at McKerrell & Lynch Architects, where he was involved with a variety of residential and commercial projects, like the Brunei Empire Hotel and Country Club for the Sultan of Brunei, also local residential developments for Hope Island Resort and the Raptis Group (Gold Coast) and other private clients.

In the five and six years he spent respectively with these two companies, Tibor was fortunate enough to work with some of the most talented and recognized architects, interior designers, landscape architects, planners and engineers, whom we still have ongoing good working relationships and association.

In 1999, Tibor decided to start a private practice based on the eleven years of local and international experience (graduation) from the local architectural companies.

Since then, the practice has been involved with the full design and documentation of medium-high end, and prestige waterfront (ocean front) residences, ranging up to $4-5million in construction costs, on Hedges Avenue, Sovereign Island and Sanctuary Cove, main Nerang river Southport and on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

A range of commercial projects has been also completed, including a boutique office building located in Surfers Paradise, the Gold Coast Italo-Australian Club, Office building in Southport CBD and other developments such as the Watermark Hotel refurbishments on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane.

We are not only working on new projects, but also taking on the complicated task of refurbishments and extensions, where we are carefully designing and working around the existing structures and the building rules & regulations to find the best solutions.

Designing by the rules and regulations is even more emphasized when it comes to the medium to high density residential developments, when we try to optimize the development opportunity.

Since 2008, the company has expanded to include landscape design tasks, as Peter Vanger (Tibor’s son), graduated as a Landscape Architect and has also come on board our design team.

On the residential field, our philosophy is to create homes not only buildings, on all type of residential projects and ensure the difference in design with the combination of aesthetics, functionality and economy.

Our main strength is the personalized service, where we are working together with our clients from the start to the finish, and we ensure the unchanged personnel attendance at all time during the life of the project.

Also an important part of our practice is the design of medium and large size industrial buildings not only for production of goods and services, but for the very important and ever growing local boating industry.

We are very proud for designing the majority of the buildings for The Boat Works at Coomera, which is now classified as a world class shipping yard.

We are looking forward to the opportunity of working with you on your next project,

Tibor J.Vanger
